SEEDs for Autism is a growing nonprofit organization that provides life, social and job development skills to youth and adults impacted by autism.  We are seeking an individual who will be providing one-on-one and team support to individuals with autism, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, assisting them in employment related activities for finding and maintaining employment by offering on-the-job training, skill development, and advocacy with employers, aiming to promote independence and successful integration into the workplace; requiring strong communication, patience, and understanding of individual needs.  This position is seeking people with experience in special education or different learning fields.  We are seeking someone who can maintain strong working relationships with organizations staff, stakeholders, and businesses in community.

OBJECTIVE

Responsible for teaching and training members individually or in a group setting. Assist in tracking individual program goals and objectives, involvement in contract work, contract supervision and quality control.

  • Assist and educate members in job search skills, on-the-job training, preparing and attending interviews, follow-up, completing applications/resumes, and advocacy in order to assist member in gaining successful employment
  • Must maintain Professional and Ethical employment standards at all times
  • Needs to be organized and detail oriented

AUTHORITY

This person shall have the authority to complete the above responsibilities subject to the verbal and/or written approval of the Employment Services Production Supervisor and Employment Support Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate required.

A minimum of 3 years working with different learning abilities, preferably youth and adults

Be able to Get a fingerprint clearance card and pass a background check

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Supervision of members in the program setting and in the community.
  • Provide members with training in contract work.
  • Assure quality of members` work.
  • Maintain program documentation, implementation, safety and cleanliness.
  • Provide assurance of human and civil rights of members.
  • Ability to observe others and accurately document those observations.
  • Attend case meetings, address member needs, and ensure safety protocols and equipment maintenance are upheld.
  • Be familiar with emergency first aid procedures and accident reporting procedures.
  • Maintain good relations with members, guardians, co-workers, and the public.
  • Maintain a manner and appearance that reflects the organization.
  • Provide training and support in job search techniques, including resume writing and interviewing skills.
  • Collaborate with local employers to identify job opportunities suitable for clients.
  • Educate clients about workplace expectations, rights, and responsibilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of client progress.
  • Advocate for clients within the community to promote awareness of the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities.
  •  Ability to take initiative and make decisions based upon company purpose, values and mission.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated “can-do positive attitude and work independently, as well as with a team.
  • Shifts are typically M-F but can require some Saturdays
  • Experience with working with individuals with disabilities is a must
