General Information for the role of Service Dog Training Intern (Client/Volunteer Relations)
The Intern will work as a part of the Training Team and report to the Director of Training and Placement (DTP). Interns will be assigned the task to move through the day-to-day operations, working alongside DTP, Trainer I and Trainer II. All work assigned will be approved in advance by the DTP.
Job description:
Power Paws is looking for a competent Service Dog Intern to:
1. Recruit volunteers for service dog program. Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and manage client and volunteers` relations. Under the direction of (DTP), you will be responsible for allocating responsibilities and retaining the best people.
a. You should know how to distinguish talent, motivate, and inspire new volunteers.
2. Act as Liaison when new clients are onboarded and schedule for service dog placement.
3. Act as Liaison to trainers for daily service dog training program
Training Intern - Volunteer Recruitment
• Source and recruit volunteers through various techniques (databases, e-mail, social media etc.)
• Ensure Power Paws is always staffed with the best and most dependable individuals.
• Correctly utilize volunteers for the fulfilment of our mission.
• Collect information on availabilities and skills.
• With the direction of the DTP, arrange mandatory and appropriate training for new volunteers.
• Produce schedules for everyday activities.
• Assign responsibilities to the right people for special events.
• Coordinate teams of volunteers for large-scale actions
• Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and well-placed.
• Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events.
• Keep detailed records of volunteers` information and assignments.
• Ensure the purpose of the organization and its actions is clearly communicated.
Skills:
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experience.
• Proven working experience as part of a training team.
• Comfortable in recruiting through various channels (in-person, social media)
• Working knowledge of databases, Google Docs, and MS Office
• Able to communicate effectively with diverse people.
• Excellent organizational and team coordination abilities
• A pleasant, outgoing personality
• Basic obedience dog training
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $19 per hour
Educational Reimbursement (job related) after six months of employment.
