Healthcare Claims Specialist – Behavioral Health

Phoenix, AZ 85021 | $20–$21/Hour | Contract-to-Hire | Fully Onsite

We are seeking a detail-oriented Healthcare Claims Specialist with behavioral health billing experience to join a busy claims department. This role focuses on insurance eligibility verification, claims review and processing, denial resolution, and payment posting. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with behavioral health claims, strong attention to detail, and familiarity with Medicaid billing.

Responsibilities

Verify client insurance eligibility and coverage.

Review and scrub claims for accuracy and completeness.

Research, reconcile, and resubmit denied claims.

Post payments to client accounts within the EHR system.

Communicate with insurance payers regarding claims and outstanding issues.

Maintain accurate records and meet quality and productivity expectations.

Support daily claims department operations.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

1–2 years of behavioral health claims or medical billing experience — required.

Hands-on experience processing or billing behavioral health claims.

Experience with EHR systems and computerized billing.

Familiarity with CPT and HCPCS codes.

Microsoft Excel proficiency.

Experience with Medicaid claims/billing is strongly preferred; commercial behavioral health billing experience may also be considered.

Position Details

Pay: $20–$21 per hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
