Public Assistance Specialist

Public Assistance Specialist – Hybrid | Phoenix, AZ 85008 Pay Rate: Starts at $26/hr. + Excellent SoAZ benefits Schedule : Mon–Fri, 8am–4:30pm- Only local candidates Term: 6 months (Temp-to-Hire)

Duties/Responsibilities

• Manage and provide financial oversight of awards for the Public Assistance Program
• Estimate and assess disaster-related damage to public infrastructure, including costs for repair/replacement
• Perform preliminary damage assessments and determine the need for emergency proclamations or Federal disaster declarations
• Assist Applicants in submitting Public Assistance applications for State/federal declared events
• Be prepared for 24/7 response and no-notice recall to Emergency Operations Centers as needed
• Train for specific SEOC positions and perform assigned roles during disaster exercises/activations
• Conduct and document on-site inspections, prepare and review project worksheets, and maintain compliance with eligibility criteria
• Deliver presentations and assist with training regarding the Public Assistance program
• Attend workshops to stay current on relevant State and federal Public Assistance programs

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years Customer/Client Service and Account Management experience
• Associate's degree or higher
• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
• Ability to estimate disaster impacts and manage recovery processes

Preferred Experience/Certifications

• Instructor credentials or experience teaching adult classes
• Public Assistance, public speaking, staff training, or workshop facilitation experience
• Familiarity with State/federal disaster recovery, infrastructure assessment, and emergency management
