We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Planning & Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team. Every day you will make a difference in the lives of others by supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and other core finance and accounting functions. In this role, you will help ensure the accurate management of financial resources, support fiscal planning, and contribute to the integrity of financial operations across the organization. Essential Duties: • Ensures departmental entries and account reporting, including budget, forecast and actuals. • Supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities through analysis of financial results and trends. • Monitors account expenditures; maintains and reconciles account budgets; evaluates against budget guidelines. • Performs variance analysis (budget vs. actuals, forecast vs. actuals). • Reviews financial results, identifies budget variances, and provides recommendations to support sound financial management. • Communicates with EdPlus and ASU staff on their financial plans and answers policy, budget, and procedure questions. • Supports efforts to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and consistency of accounting and financial reporting processes. • Supports month-end and year-end close with financial reporting and analysis. • Prepares recurring and ad hoc financial reports for leadership and departmental stakeholders. • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed. NOTE: This is an in-person, hybrid position. You must be able to reliably commute to Scottsdale, Arizona. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Desired Qualifications: • Evidence of a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field. • Experience working at ASU or another higher education institution. • Experience in budgeting and financial planning. • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures. • Evidence of strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, V-lookups, and financial analysis functions. • Experience in preparing financial reports and account reconciliations. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an environment subject to quickly changing and potentially conflicting priorities. • Demonstrated willingness and desire for continuous learning and advancing personal skillset. • Evidence of strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. • Experience with financial management systems such as Workday, Adaptive, or similar ERP systems. Salary & Benefits: $54,600 - $67,000 per year; DOE ASU offers a total compensation package that includes valuable employee benefits.
