The Transportation Technician provides technical, clerical, operational, and fleet support for district transportation services. This position supports the daily operations of student transportation by assisting with fleet readiness, vehicle usage, documentation, compliance, and operational coordination. The Transportation Technician helps ensure safe, efficient, and compliant transportation services in accordance with district policies and state and federal regulations.
Performance responsibilities include:
Education: High school diploma or equivalency required. Experience: Three years of related office or clerical experience is necessary, preferably in transportation, logistics, or a public sector environment. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Proficiency in data entry, recordkeeping, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly spreadsheets. Ability to learn and effectively use district transportation and routing software. Knowledge of transportation operations, routing principles, and safety practices is desirable. High level of English proficiency for professional communication and accurate documentation. Strong organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to review and analyze transportation data for errors or inconsistencies. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with parents, students, and staff. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality of sensitive student and personnel information. Ability to operate standard office equipment and communication devices.
Working conditions: Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with regular interaction with transportation facilities and fleet operations. Terms of employment: Twelve-month year, Classified Hourly Salary Schedule, employee benefits in accordance with Board policies. Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of classified staff.
