seeking a Fabrication Estimator with experience estimating miscellaneous metals and/or structural fabrication projects. This role will focus on preparing accurate estimates for fabricated metal components, structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and related shop fabrication work.

The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing drawings and specifications, performing takeoffs, pricing materials and labor, and working with internal fabrication teams to prepare competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates for miscellaneous metals, structural steel, and related fabrication projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, scope documents, and bid packages.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for fabricated metal components, structural members, plates, supports, stairs, rails, frames, brackets, and related items.
• Estimate labor, materials, equipment, shop fabrication time, finishing, coatings, and subcontractor/vendor pricing.
• Obtain pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors as needed.
• Identify scope gaps, clarifications, exclusions, and potential risks.
• Coordinate with project managers, shop personnel, operations, procurement, and leadership.
• Assist with bid preparation, proposal development, and project handoff after award.
• Support value-engineering efforts and recommend cost-effective fabrication approaches.
• Maintain organized estimating files and documentation.

Ideal Background

• Prior estimating experience in fabrication, ideally within miscellaneous metals, structural steel, or related metal fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and specifications.
• Understanding of fabricated metal components, steel shapes, plate work, weldments, connections, finishes, and coatings.
• Experience pricing labor, materials, vendor items, and shop production time.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates or bid deadlines.
• Comfortable communicating with vendors, internal shop teams, and project stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with steel fabricators, miscellaneous metals contractors, structural fabrication shops, industrial contractors, or commercial metal fabricators.
• Familiarity with estimating software, takeoff tools, Bluebeam, Excel, or fabrication-related systems.
• Knowledge of material grades, steel pricing, fabrication methods, welding, coatings, and installation considerations.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
