Compensation & Structure

Contract Period (90 days): $37.50/hr

HR Manager (W2): $42.50/hr

SR HR Manager (1 Year): $50.00/hr + 2.5% revenue share (paid quarterly, eligible after Year 1)

Paid billable client hours + pre-approved internal hours = 40 hours/week

Expected Year 2+ earnings: $95,000–$120,000+ annually (no maximum)

The Role

We are looking for an HR Manager to serve our growing base of Phoenix and Scottsdale-area clients. This is a client-facing, technology-driven consulting role — not a back-office HR position.

Work is split 50/50 between on-site client visits and remote work. Regular travel throughout the Phoenix and Scottsdale metro is required — candidates must be comfortable commuting across the valley on a daily basis. Occasional travel to Moss Consulting internal company meetings (outside Phoenix) will also be required.

You will work directly with business owners and employees, managing payroll, onboarding, benefits, and compliance across multiple companies — and delegate work to our HR Generalists to ensure every client is fully supported.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the day-to-day HR contact for assigned Phoenix/Scottsdale-area business clients
• Conduct regular on-site visits at client locations throughout the Phoenix and Scottsdale metro
• Manage HR support tickets within SLA timelines
• Oversee onboarding, payroll, and compliance documentation across multiple client environments
• Coordinate benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee communications
• Conduct HR Integrity Checks and lead annual HR planning sessions with clients
• Delegate tasks to HR Generalists; manage workflow quality and throughput
• Communicate directly with business owners and their teams — in person and remotely
• Support after-hours client needs when required
• Attend internal Moss Consulting meetings (some travel outside Phoenix required)
• Maintain "Perfect Comms" standards and precise time tracking

Travel Requirements

Local Travel (Regular): Daily driving throughout the Phoenix and Scottsdale metro area. Must have reliable personal transportation.

• ~50% of work hours will be on-site at client locations
• ~50% of work hours will be performed remotely
• Mileage reimbursement provided per company policy

Out-of-Area Travel (Occasional): Periodic travel for internal Moss Consulting team meetings, training, and company events.

Technology & Workflow

This role operates daily across multiple systems and platforms. Tech fluency is non-negotiable.

• Microsoft 365, Teams, Google Workspace, Slack
• Multiple HRIS and payroll platforms with separate client logins
• AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Notion AI, etc.) to streamline daily work
• Rapid adoption of new software and systems — strong tech skills required

Career Path & Evaluation Levels

All candidates enter through a structured 90-day evaluation before earning the HR Manager title:

• Generalist Work (min. 30 days) — $37.50/hr | Foundational HR support & systems training
• HRM Support (min. 30 days) — $37.50/hr | Shadow and assist senior HR Managers
• HRM Support (min. 30 days) — $37.50/hr | Client work with direct support & deliver audits
• HR Manager (W2) — $42.50/hr | Full client ownership
• SR HR Manager @ 1 Year — $50.00/hr + revenue share | Team leadership & client growth

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree, HR preferred, Business, or related field
• 5+ years of HR experience (generalist or business partner)
• Strong working knowledge of employment law and payroll practices, including Arizona-specific requirements
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
• Reliable transportation and willingness to drive regularly across the Phoenix/Scottsdale metro
• Currently located within 50 miles of downtown Phoenix
• Highly tech-skilled — comfortable managing multiple platforms with different logins simultaneously
• Comfortable in a hybrid work environment

Preferred:

• Prior experience in HR consulting or multi-client environments (minimum 1 year strongly preferred)
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
• Familiarity with the Phoenix/Scottsdale business community
