This role operates in a low-volume, high-mix environment and must manage multiple active programs in parallel while maintaining documentation accuracy, revision discipline, and manufacturability alignment.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring technical rigor, structured change control behavior, and the ability to move efficiently between projects without loss of detail or ownership.

Core Responsibilities

· Develop mechanical or electrical design solutions for custom assemblies and sub-systems.

· Translate customer and internal requirements into production-ready drawings, BOMs, and controlled engineering documentation.

· Manage multiple design efforts concurrently in a high-mix environment, maintaining schedule discipline and design integrity across programs.

· Generate and maintain detailed component drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and test specifications within PLM and ERP systems.

· Execute and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) with strict revision control discipline.

· Support prototype builds, hands-on development, testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities.

· Perform tolerance analysis, material selection, component integration, and system-level problem solving.

· Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and smooth transition to production.

· Participate in structured design reviews, risk assessments, and root cause investigations.

· Support technical clarification during quoting and customer design discussions when required.

· Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, documentation clarity, and cost control.

· Ensure compliance with AS9100 / ISO9001 quality systems and ITAR program requirements.

Candidate Profile

· Ownership & Accountability – Takes responsibility for design quality, documentation accuracy, and follow-through.

· Process Discipline – Organized, structured, and comfortable working within controlled revision and PLM systems.

· Parallel Execution Capability – Able to manage multiple active projects without losing detail, responsiveness, or urgency.

· Technical Initiative – Hands-on, proactive in testing and troubleshooting, and motivated to solve problems beyond assigned tasks.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.

· 3+ years of design engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Experience generating production-level drawings and managing controlled revisions.

· Experience operating within ERP and/or PLM systems.

· Ability to work on-site in a regulated environment.

· Must be eligible to support ITAR-controlled programs.

Preferred Experience

· Aerospace, defense, industrial, or medical device manufacturing.

· Experience in low-volume, high-mix production environments.

· DFM/DFA principles.

· Injection molding, sheet metal, PCB integration, or electro-mechanical assemblies.

· Structured root cause methodologies (8D, Fishbone, etc.).
