Non Instructional Assistant

Heritage provides parents and scholars with a friendly and orderly environment. As an integral part of Heritage Academy, this position will assist the faculty in helping all scholars in a friendly and professional manner while adhering to all practices consistent with Heritage culture, strategy, and values.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor the activities of students in the cafeteria and/or on the playground.
  • Counsel and/or intervene with students to ensure acceptable behavior.
  • Guide children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
  • Report observations and/or incidents relating to students to appropriate school personnel.
  • Respond to emergencies to address safety concerns.
  • Assist students during lunchtime.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks (clean up spills on tables, floor, etc.).
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Assist students, parents, and staff to provide safe access to and from school.
  • Maintains a friendly, but professional, attitude with the students, staff, and parents.
  • Must relate positively with parents, staff, students, and administration at all times.
  • Regular and on-time attendance required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths

Education: High School education or equivalent required

Experience: Experience working with and/or supervising children

Type of fingerprint clearance: Shall be fingerprint checked pursuant to A.R.S 15-52

Special Skills:

  • Must be able to manage small groups of children
  • Ability to work well with students, staff, and parents
  • Ability to enforce school rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with students, parents, and staff

Physical functions: Must be able to move around the campus, both inside and outside, for 75% of the time; may occasionally be stationary (sitting or standing) for 25% of the time. Occasional lifting, carrying, pulling, running, and/or throwing.

Equipment used: Occasional computer, telephone, and office equipment use is expected.

Work Environment: May be required to move or position equipment up to 30 pounds. Will be exposed to outdoor weather.
