Position Overview
The Driver transports goods or products from one place to another. They use their knowledge of the service delivery area to ensure the business runs smoothly and products are received in a timely and professional manner.
Responsibilities
Transporting of Goods or Products & Vehicle Maintenance (65%)
- Use route navigation apps and knowledge of area to deliver goods or products to customers on time, per delivery and pick-up schedules.
- Comply with Centurion uniform policy for logistics associates.
- Interact with customers in a professional manner.
- Must maintain a clean driving record.
- Maintain electronic logs to track routes and deliveries.
- Turn in all paperwork, receipts, trip logs and logbooks at the end of every shift
- Drive in inclement weather, such as rain or snow.
- Work fluctuating schedule as needed, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Participate in a rotational on-call policy for deliveries.
- Must have a medical card.
- Neatly fill out and turn in inventory paperwork.
- Follow up with Logistics to ensure customer has confirmed order items, delivery date, and location.
- Ensure all packing slips are appropriately completed for delivery.
- Call ahead to customers with an estimated arrival time, introduce yourself and ask where they would like you to load or unload truck.
- Load product for customer delivery and or packaging for shipment.
- Complete checklist for packing materials.
- Responsible for all Centurion owned, leased, rented vehicles.
- Operate vehicles in a responsible manner by following traffic laws.
- Fill out vehicle inspection form before leaving and when returning; notify manager of any issues.
- Clean out vehicles and remove any trash, keep widows and mirrors clean.
- Gas up vehicle at the end of each shift.
- May have truck cleaned once a month with permission.
- Do not smoke in or around vehicles.
- Never drive a company vehicle while under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.
- Immediately report any driving incident.
Warehouse Activities (35%)
- Unload trucks, sort and place incoming products in the warehouse according to the directions provided by the receiving manager or the warehouse manager
- Move and organize products on racks and on the floor using pallet jack, forklift
- Inventory and photograph the equipment to properly prepare for the auction sale
- Help customers during the inspection and provide more information about the equipment per request basis
- Pull orders based on the auction results
- Assist the buyers with the pick-up of the equipment during the checkout and maintain written proof of all items released
Skills and Experience
- Above all, must adhere to safety practices, have a clean driving record, and be a safe driver.
- Energetic, personable and must enjoy meeting people.
- Deeply familiar with area nuances, such as back roads and traffic patterns.
- Maintains customer service orientation by actively looking for ways to help customers and co-workers.
- Manages time effectively and efficiently.
- Open and transparent communication skills.
- Familiarity with GPS devices or map apps.
Education and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year driving experience within 30-mile radius of store.
- Ability to manage time and routes for a streamlined delivery experience.
- Able to lift up to 70lbs easily and repeatedly without assistance, plus bending and twisting.
- Able to work independently without immediate oversight or as part of a team.
