Description
The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating of an industrial forklift to move, locate, relocate, and stack finished product, incoming production materials and miscellaneous commodities. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of thevehicle and may also be required to perform other associated duties. They are responsible for inspecting and maintaining their lift equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Transfer, process and load all steel materials and other goods using appropriate forklift technique and lifting practices.
- Feed production lines with steel beams and product as required.
- Organize steel materials, finished product, and other goods in clean, appropriate locations.
- Pull and prepare finished steel product for shipment as scheduled. Make sure that all outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
- Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
- Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards. Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
- Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety.
- Perform picking duties of raw materials in an efficient manner following SME's procedures and standards.
- Efficiently stack and store all product and materials in proper locations. Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee tight inventory control.

RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Prefer High School diploma, GED or equivalent and/or 2 years of previous forklift experience in heavy industry setting.
- Attention to detail; able to maintain production and inventory reports.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, if necessary, with co-workers, maintenance, supervisors, and inspectors.
- Familiarity with material handling.
- Forklift operators are required to satisfactorily complete an OSHA approved forklift training program.
- Capable of reading numbers and labels.
- Capable of working in a high paced environment.
- Must be dependable, reliable, and mature enough to handle equipment in a safe and sensible manner.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 65 lbs. regularly.
• Must be able to stand, kneel, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods.
• Physically fit to work in an industrial environment and tolerate exposure to varying physical conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:• Industrial warehouse and manufacturing environment with heavy machinery, and overhead cranes.
• Use of PPE such as gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear is required.
• Interaction with team members, leads, and supervisors is frequent and necessary.
