Description:

The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) position is assigned to the Health Administration Service (HAS) and serves as administrative support within the Phoenix VA Health Care System.This position is located at: 32nd Street Outpatient Clinic, 400 North 32nd Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008Typical duties include, but are not limited to:* The AMSA is responsible for scheduling appointments, including interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA national scheduling guidelines.* Communicating directly with the patient to obtain required information to determine patient needs.* Managing follow-up care for Return to Clinic orders, consults, tests, etc.* Verifying and updating demographics and insurance information (ICB).* Processing incoming secured messaging through MyHealtheVet.* Monitoring pre-appointment information, assuring readiness for the patient visit/procedure.* Managing patient systems to verify and validate accuracy and resolve concerns.* Ensuring encounter forms are completed in order to obtain appropriate workload credit.* Providing excellent customer service and assists in providing front line resolution, when applicable.Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00 A.M.- 4:30 P.M.Telework: Not AvailableVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Functional Statement #: 000000Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not AuthorizedRecruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not AuthorizedPermanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not AuthorizedPay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year).
