Job Summary

The Guard House Ambassador at Arizona Country Club is in an integral position in creating a smooth flowing member experience by welcoming members and their guests. The ideal candidate will be charged with facilitating and ensuring that all members and guests are welcomed to the Club and directed to the appropriate destination. We create rapport and learn the needs of our members and show outstanding customer service to anyone that comes on property. This position reports to the Golf and Member Service Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate the core values and mission for Arizona Country Club to support the achievement of company goals.
  • Consistently maintain a clean and professional appearance; arrive on time, and in proper uniform.
  • Create a welcoming environment for members and their invited guests, including greeting individuals by name; act as "host" to ensure requests are carried out in an effective and time-efficient manner.
  • Act as a "Goodwill Ambassador" to welcome all visitors approaching the gate using the AZCC assigned script, including members and guests of members, golfers and restaurant guests, and delivery services.
  • Monitor delivery services and suspicious vehicles; communicate with property management to confirm authorization for entry.
  • Provide gate system card information, complete required entry system documentation. Provide instruction for new members on gate system operations.
  • Control traffic at entry gates to prevent accidents and confusion.
  • Offer direction to guests stopping at the gate to ensure they enjoy their time at the Club.
  • Work closely with the golf service team to assure the proper monitoring of all parking lot traffic, incidents, and occurrences. Respond to safety concerns.
  • Facilitate vacation watch parameters, assist members with entry gate operations, and patrol the parking lot facilities each evening.
  • Lock and unlock the gates daily; set alarms and on-call for after-hours alarm calls.
  • Monitor gates for maintenance related issues and report issues to a supervisor.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
  • Promote the club through exceptional service and attention to detail.
  • Support the country club as needed.
  • Special projects as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A passion for hospitality.
  • Strong desire to provide exceptional customer service with great attention to detail.

  • One to three years' experience working in a customer service setting, dealing with public patrons and members preferred.
  • Computer literate, with a basic understanding of the Internet, email, and entering work time.
  • Knowledge of state and local governmental safety requirements.
  • Expert knowledge of conflict resolution techniques.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have planning, problem-solving, decision-making, delegation, time management, and employee development skills.
  • Must show critical thinking and decision-making skills, with an ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Must demonstrate initiative, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
  • This position requires a flexible schedule, which may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Must be highly customer oriented and responsive to our member needs.
  • Able to work under pressure and balance multiple priorities and assignments.
  • Must be role model and able to live our AZCC core values.


Experience & Education

High school graduate or GED equivalent required; vocational school preferred. Entry-level, 1-2 years experience in the service industry required. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing personal services. This includes meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of member satisfaction.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see and hear, speak clearly and understand the speech of another person. The employee is regularly required stand and walk (often for most of a work shift), sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, bend, and reach with hands and arms. The position requires the ability to lift and/or push or pull items weighing up to 10 pounds. This position requires movement between an indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee will also be exposed to outdoor temperatures ranging from 35 degrees to 120 degrees while completing required tasks.
