TITLE: Maintenance
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year's experience in the performance of building or general maintenance.
- Experience in construction or mechanical trades such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, carpentry, masonry, metal work, glazing, tile work, roofing, flooring, welding and mechanics or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities preferred.
- Knowledge of general safety procedures and practices relating to building trades.
- Requires possession of a valid Arizona Driver's License.
JOB GOAL: Under general supervision performs general maintenance work in connection with the repair, construction and upkeep of school buildings and equipment. Works independently and with a team if necessary; and to perform related work as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs and/or assists in semiskilled maintenance, installation and repair to buildings and equipment in connection with construction and mechanical trades, including plumbing, painting, carpentry, heating, electrical, masonry, metal work, glazing, tile work, roofing, flooring, ventilating systems, welding and mechanics.
- Makes routine and emergency repairs and adjustments to school buildings and faculties.
- Applies finishes to various surfaces such as wood, metal, glass, plaster, stucco, wallboard, brick and cement.
- Uses power and hand tools.
- Lifts, stacks and moves, heavy furniture, equipment and materials.
- Operates light to medium weight trucks and equipment to pick up or deliver equipment, furniture and other supplies.
- May work as part of a crew or independently on routine tasks.
- Basic methods and tools; employed in building maintenance work.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
COMMENTS:
This job requires the employee to be able to check and adjust moving mechanical equipment. This job also requires a large amount of manual dexterity. The employee is also required to listen to multiple sounds at one time and pick out individual sounds.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months, beginning salary Grade 5 on the Classified Hourly Salary Placement Schedule. Employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
