Role Overview

At All Things Metal, we don't just build steelwe build people. As a General Laborer, you'll be an essential part of the team that keeps our fabrication shop running smoothly. This entry-level position is perfect for someone eager to learn the ropes of the steel industry, develop hands-on skills, and grow within a company that promotes from within. If you're reliable, detail-oriented, and want a long-term career path that could lead into fabrication, welding, or fieldworkthis is your starting point.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prep, clean, and scrape metal for fabricating, welding, or shipping
  • Operate power tools such as saws, drills, and grinders
  • Read and interpret tape measurements accurately to 1/16" for cutting and drilling
  • Assist with material movementlifting, loading, stacking, and organizing steel and scrap
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, keeping tools and equipment in proper condition
  • Support the fabrication team with various shop duties as needed
  • Serve as backup for painting and finishing work when required

Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen (includes marijuana)
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in high temperatures
  • Able to stand for long periods and lift over 50 lbs
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
  • Ability to read a tape measure (crucial for this position)
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to read part prints a plus
  • Painting or finishing experience preferred but not required

Schedule

Monday - Friday 5 am - 3 pm with a 1 hour unpaid lunch. Occasional half days on Friday (depending on need and department).
