Job Summary
The Director of Engineering provides strategic leadership across ATGs engineering disciplinesincluding Civil, Structural, and MEPby overseeing and coordinating activities of the Technical Services group and technical staff. This role is responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of projects, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and compliance with applicable laws. The Director will drive operational efficiency, foster collaboration across departments, and contribute directly to ATGs growth and success.
Location
North Little Rock, AR, or Phoenix, AZ, offices preferred. Open to remote in other locations for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a talent pipeline in partnership with our internal recruiting team to ensure full coverage and resource availability
- Track utilization and project profitability using CRM tools; report regularly to VP Professional Services Group profitability
- Meet regularly with executive leadership to review progress, achievements, and adjust goals as needed
- Ensure seamless logistics coordination (materials, technology, locations) for all service engagements
- Assist in formulating company policies and setting long-term Professional Services goals to drive revenue growth
- Manage service offerings including outsourcing, production, consulting, and specialized implementations/training
- Review project health (billables, utilization) weekly; oversee issue resolution
- Ensure quality control, deliverable accuracy, client satisfaction, and minimum hourly revenue standards
- Lead team management: onboarding, scheduling, training, certifications, and mentoring
- Oversee scoping, SOW accuracy, project timelines, and deliverables
- Develop professional growth plans for technical staff across AEC software platforms
- Partner with Marketing to produce thought leadership (webinars, blogs, white papers, customer success stories)
- Provide weekly project updates to leadership
- Submit annual Professional Services profit plans
- Create new, repeatable Professional Service Offerings based on industry needs
- Maintain accurate pipeline of service opportunities
- Coordinate Internal Assist Requests and pre-/post-sale resource assignments
- Support sales efforts through technical expertise, pricing, and SOW proposals
- Meet with Sales Executives weekly to review progress and remove roadblocks
- Train sales reps to effectively position services
- Join customer meetings as needed to support service discussions
- Collaborate with Marketing on campaigns to drive inbound service leads
- Partner with Accounting to ensure projects are invoiced and closed monthly
Reporting & Metrics
- Project health metrics (capacity, risks, success rates)
- Monthly revenue and forecast tracking
- On Track / Off Track metrics (hourly revenue, utilization, overruns)
- Weekly service projections, IARs, and pipeline status
- Meet performance benchmarks
Qualifications
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Bachelors degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline
- 10+ years of AEC industry experience with advanced knowledge in Autodesk products across engineering disciplines
- Proven ability to manage and develop teams of 10+ technical specialists
- Ability to mentor, train, and develop technical staff
- Excellent organizational, relationship management, and communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Teams, Word, Outlook), Bluebeam, and CRM/project tracking tools

Job Requirements
The position requires the ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with additional hours as needed to meet deadlines and complete assignments. The candidate should be comfortable sitting or standing for prolonged periods and must be able to travel between office locations, including locations with stair access. Strong English communication skillsboth verbal and writtenare essential, along with the ability to comprehend and respond effectively to colleagues and clients. Visual and auditory capability, with or without corrective devices, is necessary to support interactions and project requirements. Additionally, the candidate should be able to lift and carry office items weighing up to 30 pounds as needed.
