Job Summary:
The Title I School Improvement Specialist is a master teacher and a communication link for curriculum and instruction issues between Teaching and Learning Department, other departments and the assigned Title I school site. The specialist assists, supports, and coaches staff members in effective instruction with emphasis in the curriculum areas of reading, writing and mathematics to ensure student success and academic achievement. Specialists promote school improvement by facilitating training, providing professional learning, and ensuring the implementation of AZ State Standards, district curriculum, and the School Integrated Action Plan (SIAP) including all ESEA compliance regulations. The goal of the school improvement specialist is to build capacity in the use of effective instruction by providing ongoing coaching, demonstration teaching, assistance with program monitoring, and prescriptive intervention strategies for all teachers.
Candidates must complete an on-line application which requires appropriate Arizona certification, valid IVP Arizona fingerprint clearance card, evidence of highly qualified status, three letters of recommendation, and transcript of credits

* Coordinates and provides on-site curriculum related professional learning (class demos, workshops, in-services, classes, etc.)
* Keeps principals, teachers, and instructional assistants up to date on effective instructional strategies, techniques, activities, and materials, that through research, have proven to increase student achievement
* Models best instructional practices through classroom demonstration lessons
* Assist staff with the understanding and interpretation of assessment data to inform instructional decisions
* Coaches staff members in effective instruction
* Supervises, schedules, informs, trains, and evaluates instructional assistants
* Ensures student eligibility and participation in extended services are maintained (before/after school or summer school)
* Assists with staff training and ensuring that time and effort logs are reviewed, maintained and enforced
* Assists and/or coordinates the implementation and interpretation of a comprehensive needs assessment
* Assists with coordination of parental involvement meetings, workshops, family academic events, curriculum nights
* Assists with the development and distribution of parent involvement policy and parent school compact
* Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications:

Education:
* Bachelor's degree
* Valid Arizona teaching Certification
Experience:
* Five years of successful teaching experience
* Experience working with site-based teams
* Expertise in working with colleagues in areas of professional learning, learning teams, new teacher support and/or instructional planning
