Your Impact

You will support the CEW development team in testing, verifying, and validating firmware and software behaviors. The team supports TASER Core, Civilian, VR, and various pillars in the creation of physical hardware, software tools, and combinations of both. You will create or further develop process-improvement materials such as documentation, acceptance testing, and automation verification. This includes validating product behavior, developing a suite of utilities to support cross-functional groups, and building fixture equipment from start to finish for non-production environments.

For each new product in support of the program, you will bring online Automated Test Stations (ATS) responsible for building project code and tools, locally deploying them, and running extensive test suites to ensure the quality and safety of Axon devices. You will independently develop small to mid-sized simple mechanical test fixtures to exercise physical interactions with devices without human operation. You will create, update, and distribute documentation on system performance and validation procedures in preparation for new releases. This hands-on role will interact directly with new product development from the CEW group, contributing to continuous improvement and quality assurance for every update.

What Youll Do

Location: Onsite at our Scottsdale, AZ office 3-5 days a week, with 5-10% travel.

  • Project Autonomy: This role covers a broad range of activities and requires multi-tasking to support various programs and products. Responsibilities include building equipment/fixtures to expand testing capabilities, drafting and publishing testing documentation, and outlining the steps to verify requirements. You will help ensure the Definition of Done (DoD) is met and support release readiness prior to internal review and external deployment.
  • Release Management: Collaborate with other AXON pillars to adapt practices for artifacts within Control Management Systems, automate processes within the virtual ecosystem, accelerate releases, and reduce manual steps in the workflow.
  • Continuous Integration, Continuous Design: Set up ATS systems, follow CEW guidelines for configuring PC units, connecting hardware to debugging equipment, managing components for acceptance testing, ensuring no regression, and generating metrics on coverage, performance and quality.
  • Individual Contributor: Support operation behavior across pillar programs, align with use case descriptions to meet training and customer needs, and refine process documentation to optimize content.
  • Prototyping Lead: Create small fixture devices using simple actuators, sensors, and peripherals to test physical interactions with production units, expanding acceptance testing coverage early in the product lifecycle.
  • Git, Diagrams, and Documentation: Use Git for collaboration; contribute to system design proposals and create documentation for work instructions, technical directions, and empirical metrics for management.

What You Bring
  • Education: Undergraduate/Master's BS, Military Equivalency, or Professional Certifications
  • Experience: 3 years of Validation or Quality Assurance; 3-5+ years of professional software development
  • Programming: Python, C, C++, Rust, C# (etc.)
  • Robotics (ROS 2), Automation Equipment, PLC, VHDL, LabVIEW, MATLAB, Simulink, Raspberry Pi
  • Electrical Engineering, Datasheets, Component Selection
  • Mechanical Design Considerations
  • Technical Maturities: Robotic Development (e.g., motor control, pneumatics, DSP, industrial automation)
  • Software or Firmware Development (e.g., scripting, functional, hardware integration)
