Department: Finance and Administration

Core Purpose: To create loyal, lifelong fans and exercise practitioners.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Manage the full-cycle processing of bi-weekly payroll for over 8,100 employees across 125+ locations states, including locations within CA, NV, UT, FL, TX, and AZ.
• Calculate employee wages for exempt and non-exempt positions, including team members compensated through piece-rate pay.
• Ensure accurate payment of overtime, double time, vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, and meal breaks in compliance with state and local regulations.
• Support with verifying and maintaining accuracy of vacation, sick and other paid time off accruals and payments.
• Process garnishments and liens according to court-ordered instructions with support from third-party vendors.
• Investigate and resolve any payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters.
• Oversee all aspects of the payroll process, including approving transactions, reviewing exemptions, and making necessary adjustments as directed by management.
• Maintain payroll systems and promptly report any issues to management.
• Partner with payroll personnel to ensure adherence to best financial practices.
• Conduct audits of payroll transactions to ensure accuracy of accounts, payment dates, and taxes.
• Generate monthly and annual payroll reports for management review.
• Ensure compliance of all payroll systems with federal tax laws.
• Address and resolve any payroll-related queries from employees and management.
• Prepare quarterly, yearly, and weekly reports for management.
• Stay up to date with state and local wage laws and adjust payroll practices accordingly.
• Collaborate with department heads to update various types of pay structures, including commissions and bonuses.
• Provide training on payroll processes and expectations for Gym Managers and the management team.

Qualifications and Expectations:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, human resource management, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of three years' experience in a payroll accountant or similar role.
• Prior experience processing payroll for multi-state companies.
• Recent experience with commissions, FLSA, piece-rate pay, and state-specific meal/rest break compliance.
• Proficiency in implementing various earnings codes.
• Excellent knowledge of payroll software, experience with ADP Workforce Now or ADP Workforce Manager is a plus.
• Familiarity with labor legislation and federal tax laws.
• Ability to handle employee-sensitive information ethically and confidentially.
• Strong data entry management skills.
• Highly efficient in multitasking and capable of maintaining focus despite interruptions.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members while delivering high-quality customer service.
• Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with meticulous attention to detail.
• Assertive in reinforcing policies and promoting self-sufficiency.

Requirements:
• Must successfully pass Background Check.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Ability to access and operate Company computer systems including preparing documents, enter data into computer system, read reports from a computer database or email system.
• Ability to complete computer/desk work up to 8 hours a day.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, hybrid role (2-3 days a week in the office located in Phoenix, AZ)
