Senior Water Treatment Project Engineer / Manager

Description:

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer/Manager, Water Treatment / Reuse for our Tempe, AZ office. This role involves project engineering and management, focusing on water and potable reuse projects across Arizona, the Southwest, and nationwide. You will collaborate within the Hazen Water and Reuse practice groups on engaging projects and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects, oversee design, planning, operational support, and business development focusing on water reuse and drinking water projects.
  • Support and develop proposals.
  • Identify, hire, supervise, and mentor junior drinking water staff.
  • Coordinate directly with clients and internal technical specialists.
  • Manage projects to meet client expectations, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Ensure quality delivery following Hazen processes.
  • Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments on projects of various sizes.
  • Perform planning, studies, design, and support through construction and operation phases.
  • Evaluate project progress and recommend adjustments to achieve objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering.
  • PE license.
  • 12+ years of experience in municipal water treatment, reuse, water quality, or related fields.
  • Proven success in delivering multi-year projects within collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with staff, clients, and regulators.
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to present complex technical issues to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
