Position Overview

Ledgent Finance & Accounting is currently seeking a Payroll Supervisor for a client located in Phoenix, Arizona. This position offers a hybrid work schedule following the completion of training. The Payroll Supervisor will oversee all aspects of payroll accounting, ensuring timely and accurate payments, compliance with regulations, and efficient processes, while also managing payroll staff and payroll software. Additionally, the Payroll Supervisor will assist and support other accounting, internal control, and financial reporting functions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all payroll accounting functions, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.
  • Maintain and serve as an administrator for software such as ADP Workforce Now, Company Mileage, and benefit portals.
  • Supervise and manage assigned staff, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and guidance.
  • Process large complex payrolls with extensive knowledge of payroll labor laws.
  • Prepare or assist with the preparation of financial statements, tax forms (e.g., Forms 990 and 1099), financial analyses, and cash flow reports.
  • Ensure compliance with agency, federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hourly laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll and benefits reports, including worker's compensation, 403(b), and tax filings.
  • Serve as a point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and other departments.
  • Provide financial information, analysis, and evaluation of financial data as needed.
  • Assist and serve as backup to the Controller with external and internal audits and reviews.
Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance-related field.
  • At least five (5) years of payroll processing experience, including knowledge of payroll and Department of Labor (DOL) laws, benefits administration, and supervisory experience.
  • Experience with monthly closing processes, financial statement preparation, Not-For-Profit tax forms, financial analytics, and cash management.
  • Proficiency in Great Plains accounting software and fund accounting strongly preferred.
  • Experience using and administering ADP Workforce Now preferred.
  • Strong time management, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of Payroll laws and regulations as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences within the agency and community.
  • Fluency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
Required Work Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Benefits

Additional details include a minimum pay of $70,000 annually.
