BACKGROUND: Since 1952, Beacon Group has been creating opportunities for people with disabilities across Southern Arizona, Phoenix and beyond. Beacon provides job training and placement, supported and center-based employment, and day treatment programs to assist the more than two-thirds of working-age people with disabilities who do not have a job. POSITION INTRODUCTION: Responsible for all phases of mail production and distribution within the guidelines and timeframes of CWT Project Manager. This includes sorting, researching, and delivering the mail to designated mail stops.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to training as assigned by Project Manager designated trainer. Training may be written, oral, computer based, or on the job training.
  • Adhere to all Beacon Group policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety, security, and customer site policies.
  • Maintain accountability for assigned facility keys, badges, or other access media. Report stolen or misplaced access media to leadership immediately.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping by signing in and out or independently clocking in and out via Beacon Group's timekeeping system.
  • Arrive for shift at assigned time, communicate with immediate supervisor if any assigned tasks will result in additional time beyond scheduled shift end time.
  • Report any potentially dangerous situations to supervisor and Human Resources. Take steps necessary to protect all individuals until the situation is corrected.
  • Reinforce company safe practices.
  • In the event of an industrial accident or illness, in conjunction with supervisor, complete an accident investigation and report to Human Resources.
  • Ability to balance, bend, stand, walk, kneel, twist, stretch, and sit.
  • Ability to lift and carry or push and pull up to 15 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to act in a professional manner and communicate with building tenants and custodial leadership.
  • Transfer mail tubs from loading docks to mail center in the morning and mail center to dock in the afternoon (if needed).
  • Sort mail from tubs to distribution tables, which are then broken down by mail code in the mail bins.
  • Bundle mail as required by banding, bagging, or otherwise containerizing.
  • Research mail not properly addressed or properly coded.
  • Remove trash and keep work area clean and organized.
  • Deliver inter-office mail and picks up mail from mail stops.
  • Perform x-ray scan using an x-ray machine to scan all mail and packages for security of customers if required by
    If required, pull bags to be sent at the end of the day.
  • Perform job in a safe manner with concern for others and a desire to increase production.
  • If needed, process mail using machine (folding, inserting, sealing, and opening).
  • Follow HAZMAT procedures for handling potentially hazardous mail.
  • May require handling accountable mail.
  • May require opening and reading mail and forward to appropriate location.
  • May require processing requests for publications.
  • Perform duties of a mail metered on an as needed basis.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, and the public.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HS Diploma
  • Individuals with a documented disability encouraged to apply.
  • Must be able to pass any background/drug screens.
  • Must be able to pass government security background.
  • Candidate must have own transportation to/from work.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8am-1pm
