Position: Security Guard

Reports to: Coordinator of Security Services

The Security Guard is an entry level role that performs a variety of security services for the high school. They will be responsible for the day-to-day security and assistance and coordination of security at events for the high school and helping to coordinate the policing of the campus grounds. The Security Guard is responsible for securing the school campus and personnel by patrolling the property and monitoring the CCTV.

Job Description:
  1. Observe and monitor people's behavior and recall details accurately.
  2. Ensure all doors and gates are secured.
  3. Monitor assigned areas on campus including the student parking lot, high congregation areas, athletic facilities during events, student restroom areas, etc.
  4. Monitor and respond to student behavior in accordance with school's policies.
  5. Guard against unauthorized people or materials from entering campus.
  6. Respond to emergency incidents and security requests in alignment with the school's Emergency Operations Plan and school policies.
  7. Contact appropriate internal and external parties in the event of an emergency.
  8. Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, reporting trespassers.
  9. Complete logs and reports of emergencies, student behavior, etc.
  10. Maintain relationship with local law enforcement.
  11. Work flexible hours including mostly evenings and some weekends.
  12. Periodically support facilities and maintenance sta? as needed.
  13. Performs any other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the principal.

  1. Must be in good physical condition.
  2. Has skills in communication, creativity; use good judgment in handling di?erent personalities and emerging situations.

  6. Exercise judgment and make decisions as to appropriate action under pressure in accordance with school policies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must be able to stand for periods of time outside in the heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The position will require some evening and weekend hours.

EVALUATION

The performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the procedures developed by the Diocese of Phoenix and Notre Dame Preparatory under the direction of the Chaplain, Principal, Assistant Principals and Dean of Faculty.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a part-time position, paid hourly. The Leadership Committee, under the guidance of the Diocese of Phoenix establishes base salaries and stipends. A schedule of mandatory days and extra responsibilities is provided prior to the start of the new school year.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must be 25 years of age.
  3. Must be CPR and AED certified.
  4. Current Arizona Driver's License.
  5. Provide IVP fingerprint card.
  6. Continued training on Emergency Management.
  7. Minimum 1-3 years' experience as a Security Guard, Police O?cer, Military Police O?cer or a related experience.
  8. Completed Safe Environment Training and signed the Code of Conduct.
  9. Has a basic understanding of Roman Catholic teaching.
