Overview
The Vice President, People & Experience will serve as a key strategic partner to field operations, driving people strategy, talent development, and human resource initiatives that enable business success. This role will oversee HR field business partners, team member relations, and recruitment for existing and new stores. This VP will work directly with our Chief Store Officer to solve business challenges through data-driven insights and innovative programs. This leader will also drive the deployment of talent management and total rewards initiatives, ensuring they resonate with our organizational purpose “helping people live and eat better”. This role is based in Phoenix, AZ and requires 30% to 50% travel.

Overview of ResponsibilitiesStrategic Business Partner & Culture Leadership
- Act as a steward of our organizational purpose, ensuring that all HR strategies and initiatives reflect and reinforce our core values and mission.
- Champion our culture and lead through the values of “care”, “own it” and “love being different”.
- Serve as the primary HR business partner for Chief Stores Officer (CSO), supporting field leadership, and ensuring HR strategy aligns with operational goals.
- Recommend approach to achieving strategic initiatives and operational plans to CSO and Operations leadership team.
- Support company strategic initiatives that engage the field by managing change, driving results and removing barriers for operations.
- Travel monthly to store locations to engage with employees, assess workforce needs, and enhance HR's impact on business performance.
- Lead HR field business partners in executing initiatives that drive employee engagement, retention, development and operational excellence.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration by building strong relationships with leaders across the organization, ensuring HR initiatives support and enhance business priorities, process improvement, team effectiveness, and company culture.
- Build trusted advisory relationships with senior leaders, providing candid feedback and strategic counsel to influence decision-making and drive positive business and people outcomes.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Oversee recruitment strategies for both existing and new store openings, ensuring alignment with our values and the acquisition of talent that embodies our culture.
- Collaborate with operations and talent acquisition teams to forecast workforce needs and develop proactive hiring strategies.
- Implement innovative sourcing, hiring, and onboarding processes to attract and retain top talent.
- Bring visibility to succession and capability gaps, and work with the operations & HR leaders to successfully close these gaps.
Talent Management & Total Rewards
- Deploy talent management initiatives, including performance management, leadership development, and succession planning.
- Partner with total rewards teams to ensure competitive compensation, benefits, and recognition programs align with business needs.
- Utilize HR metrics and data to assess program effectiveness and make strategic recommendations.
HR Data & People Strategy
- Leverage HR analytics to provide insights that drive decision-making in hiring, retention, and workforce planning.
- Develop programs that align people strategy with business objectives, improving operational efficiency and employee productivity.
- Implement HR technology solutions to enhance field HR operations and employee experience.
Team Member Relations
- Lead employee relations efforts, ensuring a fair, consistent, and legally compliant approach to workplace concerns.
- Foster a positive workplace culture by implementing programs that enhance employee experience, engagement, and performance.
- Drive initiatives that support an inclusive workplace rooted in care and belonging.
- Coach and develop team members to support our culture rooted in values and supporting our teams to live and eat better.
Qualifications- 12+ years of progressive HR leadership experience in a retail, food service, hospitality, or multi-unit field environment.
- Demonstrated experience in a high-growth environment, with ability to scale HR programs and execution to support business expansion and evolving organizational needs.
- Proven experience in HR business partnering, talent management, employee relations, and recruitment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build relationships, influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Expertise in using data to drive HR strategies and business decisions.
- Deep knowledge of employment laws, compliance, and HR best practices.
- Understanding of HR technologies and innovative approach to team member experience.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
