ABOUT THIS POSITION
Are you an experienced leader with a passion for streamlining processes, optimizing efficiency, and serving as a key contributor in the organization? The Solid Waste Division within the Public Works Department is seeking an Operations Manager to enhance operational effectiveness, track outcomes, and reduce turnaround times with operational matters.
This is a new position that will serve as a vital bridge between department managers and other city departments, ensuring clear communication, policy adherence, and data-driven decision-making. You will work with managers across the Solid Waste Division to find opportunities to improve processes and communications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide guidance for research, evaluations, and special projects requested by department leadership.
* Foster a culture of innovation, integrity, and continuous improvement within the department.
* Analyze and interpret operational data to provide relevant information to the various teams within the department.
* Work with leadership to ensure compliance with policies and regulations as it relates to safety and training programs.
* Assist management with developing and enhancing work standards, employee schedules, and assignments to optimize productivity.
* Develop and optimize department procedures to manage records, track metrics, and recommend strategies for improving retention and efficiency.
* Collaborate with managers to improve work standards, scheduling, and employee engagement strategies.

* Produces well-written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper English sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
SALARY
Pay Range: $63,044.80 - $137,592.00 annually.
Hiring Range: $63,044.80 - $137,592.00 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Three years of experience in the supervision of either fleet maintenance or solid waste collection, and research, administration, planning, cost studies, information management.
* Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, industrial engineering, or a related field.
* Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

* Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
* Master's degree in business administration or public administration, or a related field.
* Experience working with labor.
* Experience implementing technology solutions.
* Lean Six Sigma certifications or experience with process improvements.
* Experience tracking and moving documents through an approval process.
* Experience writing policies and procedures and/or standard operating procedures.
