Job Description:

The Construction Estimator will be responsible for evaluating the viability of potential projects, assessing constructability, and preparing accurate cost estimates. This role requires a strong understanding of material costs, estimating processes, and pre-construction strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble all necessary information to prepare competitive and accurate estimates.
  • Assess project viability, constructability, and potential risks.
  • Perform various estimating methods, including "hard-bid," "select-bid," ROM, and conceptual estimates.
  • Review and analyze bid requirements, project documentation, specifications, and drawings.
  • Attend pre-bid and post-bid meetings and formal project presentations as needed.
  • Manage project estimate timelines, including site walks, meetings, and RFIs.
  • Build strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and minimize scope gaps.
  • Prepare pricing for alternates and change orders.
  • Maintain high-quality standards in estimating practices and company procedures.
  • Mentor junior estimators and bid coordinators.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
  • Background working for a general contractor on commercial projects (not multifamily or landscape).
  • Four-year degree in Construction Management or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of material costs and construction estimating processes.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including MS Office, BuildingConnected, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, SharePoint, Powerproject, and Procore.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. and travel to job sites as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

Additional Details:

  • Employment Type: Permanent, full-time.
  • Start Date: Flexible.
  • Hours: Flexible based on project needs (e.g., 7 AM - 4 PM or 8 AM - 5 PM).
  • Reporting to: Preconstruction Manager.
  • Interview Process: Phone interview with HR, followed by an in-person panel interview (possibly a third round).
