Salary Range: $56,600 - 80,000 per year, DOE
We are seeking a full-time Research Data Manager who is eager to contribute to the success of a newly established institute focused on children's positive relationships and well-being. We are looking for someone who values our mission of research and impact related to enhancing children's lives and who is excited to join a dynamic and collaborative team that is launching the Institute and its work.
Under administrative direction, the Research Data Manager works closely with research team members in contributing to the effective implementation and execution of research and will oversee data entry and maintain child development research-related databases including data such as longitudinal data, intervention and implementation data, multi-level data, and observational, peer nomination, and survey data. To do so, the Research Data Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of all data management activities, including development, sharing, storage, and management of research datasets to ensure researchers meet the necessary requirements to analyze and publish research data with integrity.
Essential Duties:
- Designs, develops, and modifies data infrastructure to accelerate data analysis and reporting in line with scientific standards and best practices
- Develops protocols for handling and archiving data
- Operates and trains others in the operation of research support equipment for the development and entry of research data
- Oversees and ensures entry and uploading of quantitative child development data, working with database and statistical programs such as ACCESS, Excel, Qualtrics, SPSS, and SAS
- Uses syntax to create variables and manages complex data manipulations, including those needed for observational, longitudinal, peer nomination, and survey data
- Performs standard statistical analyses, including but not limited to descriptive analyses, reliability analyses, t-tests, correlations, and ANOVAs to evaluate properties of the data; this includes selecting the appropriate analysis procedure, preparing data for analysis, judging reliability and validity of data, designing and writing programs to perform the analyses
- Produces written reports and visuals representing the data and data analyses
- Assists in the preparation of data collection materials, including planning and programming questionnaires in Qualtrics
- Creates and maintains codebooks
- Supports Data Management Plan preparation for grant applications and contributes to other aspects of grant writing or paper writing as pertaining to data management as needed
- Regularly collaborates and communicates with team members to ensure seamless coordination of research projects
- Trains and supervises student research assistants
- Attends relevant team meetings and participates in discussions
- Contributes to a positive work environment
- Establishes good communication with Institute faculty, staff, students, affiliates, and network members
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Knowledge of the principles and techniques relevant to the study of children's development
- Knowledge of modern research methods, data collection and analysis and skill in their application
- Skill in leading, coordinating and/or supervising the work of others
- Proficient in the use of data collection and data analysis software, including Qualtrics and SPSS
- Proficient in the use of micro-computer programs, such as Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint, as well as ACCESS and other database management programs
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of data formats, such as observational data, survey data, longitudinal data, and sociometric data
- Ability to complete projects with evidence of creative and critical thinking
- Ability to communicate about data and findings in a clear, accurate and user-friendly manner
- Ability to use effective project planning techniques to break down projects into tasks to ensure deadlines are met while managing multiple projects with multiple teams
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work toward meeting multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Passion for applying your knowledge and experience to address important social issues related to children's development
Desired Qualifications:- Preference for degree in psychology, education, child and family sciences, social work, or related areas
- Experience with data visualization software
- Masters degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two (2) years of relevant experience developing and using database technologies, data management and distribution, procedural programming for science (e.g., Matlab, R, SAS) and/or website interfacing in a research setting, OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
Working Environment:- Climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position.
- Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
- Ability to clearly communicate and exchange accurate information to perform essential duties.

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
