JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for pricing all aspects of projects and proposals, complying with project designs and maintenance of project budget and schedule. It is the Senior Estimator's responsibility to plan ahead and foresee possible costs to the company for each job and to competitively and effectively produce bids that are timely, cost efficient and profitable for the company.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with clients to establish construction budgets
  • Ability to level and compare subcontractor bids versus in-house budget
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the general and subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, construction means, methods and materials
  • Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Solicit and coordinate sub-trade bids and supplier quotes for labor, material and equipment to meet project specification and budget requirements
  • Develop construction schedules as required
  • Review new subcontractor qualifications and make sure there is a full sub list on Procore
  • Review Owner contract costs and schedules prior to execution
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate


MEASUREMENTS

  • Review new bid sets and talk with Client to request insurance requirements, bond and subcontractor's union requirements
  • Assist on buyouts for open book projects
  • Keep the 41 North Contractors estimating bid templates updated through the whole bid and revisions and year


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of building construction, material systems, market conditions and trade practices
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Microsoft Project
  • Qualifying and soliciting subcontractors for price quotes with time sensitive deadlines
  • Self-motivated professional capable of prioritizing workloads and completing tasks


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent construction management experience within the construction industry
  • Computer Skills- Critical path scheduling, excellent Microsoft Office knowledge especially Excel and Project
  • Quantity take-offs using Plan swift, Bluebeam or similar Estimating software a plus
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Effective presentation skills
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating with conceptual estimating, negotiated cost estimating and hard bidding.
  • Must be able to work closely with architects, developers and business owners as required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
