Position Summary:

The Benefits and Compensation Specialist is a vital member of the Human Resources department, tasked with planning and administering our employee benefit and compensation programs. This role involves close collaboration with the HR and Payroll teams to ensure smooth daily processing of benefits and compensation-related tasks. Key responsibilities include researching and evaluating benefit plans, addressing employee inquiries, and resolving benefit-related issues. Also is a primary point of contact for HRIS processes throughout the employee lifecycle in Paycom, and has a crucial role in fostering a positive employee experience and ensuring compliance with all benefit and compensation related regulations and company policies.

Essential Functions:

Benefits:

  • Support the annual employee open enrollment process by coordinating the distribution of enrollment materials from vendors and developing a comprehensive communication strategy to ensure complete participation.
  • Resolve benefit-related issues promptly and respond to employee inquiries with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Oversee daily benefits processing, including enrollments, terminations, and claims, while maintaining accurate electronic employee records and benefits files.
  • Collaborate closely with the payroll team to ensure accurate and timely processing of employer contributions and payroll deductions.
  • Guide employees through the leave process, encompassing initiation, accommodations, and return-to-work procedures, ensuring a smooth experience. Track and manage all active leave requests, ensuring proper documentation and timely processing.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on state, federal, and company leave policies and regulations, providing guidance as needed.
  • Regularly update company policies to align with changing leave laws and regulations.
  • Ensure that missed deductions for employees on leave of absence are properly accounted for and rectified.
  • Maintain and generate records, reports, and documentation in compliance with federal, state, and provider regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to all employment laws and regulations related to benefits.
  • Execute the automation of benefits data feeds between Paycom systems and benefits vendors to enhance efficiency.
  • Oversee internal employee wellness communication and educational programs, including wellness challenges, to promote a healthy workplace culture.

Compensation:

  • Collaborate with hiring managers and recruiters to provide expert guidance on compensation policy interpretation for new hire offers, promotions, market analysis, job evaluations, and various compensation initiatives.
  • Develop and implement compensation strategies and structures that are aligned with the company's goals and objectives, ensuring competitive positioning within the market.
  • Identify, create, and document procedures to streamline compensation processes while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct job evaluations and classifications to maintain internal equity and ensure market competitiveness.
  • Participate in salary surveys and analyze compensation data to assess the organization's market position and inform strategic decisions.
  • Oversee periodic audits to ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as company policies.
  • Maintain and update compensation salary guidelines and wage bands to reflect market trends and organizational changes.

HRIS

  • Process transactions and data throughout the employee life cycle in Paycom, and ensure data integrity, security, and efficiency.
  • Audit and approve employee level data change requests submitted by Self Service portal.
  • Create, run and distribute reports generated from HRIS system of record to business stakeholders.
  • Help maintain employee records and ensure accurate and up-to-date information in HRIS system.


Manage the employee offboarding process and oversee exit interview surveys within the HRIS system, Paycom, to gather valuable feedback and insights.

Complete other projects and responsibilities as assigned, including employee announcements, rosters, employee contact lists, periodic or special report analysis, special events and projects.


Requirements

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Understanding

  • Associates degree in Human Resources, Business, or another related field
  • 2-3 years benefits and compensation experience
  • Professional HR, Benefits or Compensation certification preferred
  • Knowledge of employee benefits models, retirement plans, and compensation models
  • Advanced MS Excel skill level
  • Knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, ACA and FMA.
